The Robinson Armament Co. XCR is a multi-caliber, gas piston weapon system developed by Robinson Armament Co. for U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to satisfy the requirements of the SOF Combat Assault Rifle or SCAR competition. Manufacturing by VFC ensures very high end quality and performance.
Seen by many as a direct competitor to the FN SCAR and even the Magpul Masada, the XCR is indeed a modern generation tactical carbine looking to be a possible future replacement of the venerable but aged M4.
Different to the previous Echo 1 model, this "plastic version" has a normal Version 2 gear box not a split type. (Previous metal version has a split type gear box)
It's lightweight but still enough heft thanks to various metal parts to feel and be very solid.
The layout could be described as a cross between a Masada, SCAR and AR (M16/M4) with a Masada style ambidextrous bolt release just in front and beneath the trigger guard, the charging handle is on the left but the bolt opens on the right. The pistol grip and trigger are exactly AR style and the fire selector is in the AR location but rotates a total of 90 degrees (unlike the ARs 180) with selections at vertical (safe), 45 degrees (single) and horizontal (full auto).
The lower, though not AR shaped, comes away in similar fashion to and AR but the upper is one piece much like a SCAR. The weapon comes with no back up iron or optical sighting at all instead allowing you to choose whatever you want.
Clocking in at about 390 FPS / 1.4j from its 120 round midcap magazine, this is most definitely an out-of-the-box skirmish ready weapon. It takes a standard type AR magazine so sourcing extra magazines could not be simpler.
The weapon comes with a blaze orange tip flash hider as is compliant with American airsoft laws but it also comes bundled with a plain black metal flash hider for those areas where it is legal. Please do be sure to check with your local laws before switching to the black flash hider to ensure you are not violating any laws.
-Battery: Comes with a 1500mah Nickel Cadmium Battery for crane stock.
-Charger: Comes with a basic charger for Nickel batteries.
-Magazine: It comes with TWO hi-cap magazines, great deal!
The gun will feed standard M16 magazines and uses 14mm CCW threading for more flash hider and silencer options.
7.4v LiPo batteries with Mini Tamiya type connector can be used, but RedWolf does not recommend using 11.1v
